Hello again, family, friends, and fans! Full disclaimer: These are my thoughts and feelings about Mark’s art, and he doesn’t even necessarily want me to talk about them but you’d get silence otherwise. The flips side is he trusts me and ultimately lets me anyway. Haha! So…you get my pen again. Finally got a green light!
We’ve added a “New Works” banner to the Home page, and it’s now included in the Home menu (and the Site Map, too, of course). As always, there is much more to come, but his latest COVID-inspired geometrical works have been begging to be seen, and they’re taking the first spotlight on this new page.
Look closely at the intricate patterns and labyrinthine quality of these images. After all the “sheltering in place” we have done, you just might feel trapped one minute, free the next, lost, then found, hopeful, then unsure, then curled back up again in some notion of freedom, of belonging, of refuge. But is all that real, or just wishful thinking? Only you know for yourself, each moment, on the path, where you are and how you're responding to it.
Where are we in all of this, really—despite all the repeated news and sound bites, between all the questions and anxieties, down the spiraled staircases of our minds, pondering life and mortality and what really matters in this humble existence? What can we make of all the statistics and predictions?
At the end of each day, I hope we can look at ourselves, our loved ones, and our fellow human neighbors—near and far—and still tap into our best humanity, our earnest compassion, our sparkling stardust within. There’s still beauty all around.
Enjoy the new works! Peace and health to you all.
P.S. Stay tuned for more additions to the New Works page coming soon. Mark is working on the final touches of some 3D constructs and an entire Nepal gallery.
